Depression Tip of the Day

Change something if you’ve been feeling depressed. Part of depression is that “stuck” feeling that doesn’t seem to go away or change much. So try taking a different route to work, try a new flavor of coffee in the morning, or change the scenery during the day by going outside and taking a few deep breaths.

  1. Very good advice. I for one, know that this works. I was feeling depressed for months, feeling like I was stuck in place. Like everyone around me was moving, and I just wasn’t going anywhere. And it frustrated me like none other. I haven’t felt like that since I got back into school, but sometimes I do have to tell myself to change some things about my day, and go outside to take those few deep breaths. Really good advice for anyone. It’s easy for anybody to feel stuck once in awhile.

  2. Hi Holly. I’m glad you commented because there is something I forgot to mention. That stuck feeling doesn’t just last for a day or two, it’s often weeks or months. School can also serve as a somewhat forced social environment in a good way, since just seeing several people and interacting can sometimes help.
