What If Work Wasn’t Work?
I read something recently in R.J. Leider’s book, The Power of Purpose, about the idea of purpose being expressed through work . That got me thinking about work mindsets. What if you didn’t always look at work as just work? Instead, what if you looked at each workday as an opportunity to stretch your mind? It is idealistic and simple. Maybe that’s why it appeals to me.
Anyway, I tried that mindset today. I forgot for a good part of the day, but did manage a few times to remain aware of stretching my mind and my limits instead of just working. Now that the workday is over, I feel I accomplished something personal in a small but significant way.
Anyway, feel free to try it out yourself and let me know what you think. Take care!

I’ve never really thought about it like that. This is very thoughtful. I’m going to try this at work. Good health for the win!
Devin,
Thank you for your kind comment on my blog. Good words! Yes, I was the one who moved first! I know he is always with me, and as I seek him, I will know him more and more intimately.
I like your post. I am finally coming into my own with my blog and Web site. It is work (we raise our own financial support and it encourages our supporters) but I also feel like I’ve found my calling. Hard to tear myself away from the computer! I do love what I’m doing.
But then there are the mundane tasks of life. Have you ever read The Practice of the Presence of God written 300 years ago by Brother Lawrence? He was a humble monk that worked in the kitchen. At first he hated his work but then he learned to do everything he did no matter how humble for God. He said he would not pick a straw up off the ground if not for God. Awesome book, quick read, Christian classic.
Blessings!
Cyndi
No I haven’t read that, maybe I’ll check it out someday. Thank you for visiting and commenting!
