What I Think Therapy Is

Therapy is:

  • reminding people of their strengths as individuals.
  • challenging habits of self-criticism.
  • a series of beneficial conversations.
  • a safe place to find your voice.
  • more beneficial when the client trusts and feels comfortable with the therapist.
  • funny.
  • a way to generate options when you feel you don’t have any.
  • a place to borrow hope when you have none.
  • frustrating and rewarding.
  • draining and energizing.
  • confusing and enlightening.
